Commissioned in 2003, Copernicus is a custom finished, hard-top Northern Bay 36' powered by a unique [removed phone]HP Yanmar diesel engine with 350 hours and is in excellent condition. With this engine this boat has a top speed of 23 knots and cruises at 15-18 knots. The boat averages 2 1/2 miles per gallon at cruise speed. The owner has meticulously maintained this boat to the highest of standards. Designed by Spencer Lincoln and built by Downeast Boats, with high quality marine certified composite materials, which result in high performance, comfort, strength and reliance.

With it's full keel and semi placement hull this boat can handle extremely well in rough water. Copernicus is flag blue with white boot and black bottom, oyster white house, buff non-skid and plenty of varnished teak. She has air conditioning, a khaki bimini over the cockpit and carries a 10' Avon hard bottom with a 15hp engine on St Croix davits. There is also a custom made fiberglass swim platform with attached swim ladder. Interior includes cherry trim throughout, cherry slatted walls and corian countertops. She is also equipped with Spurs line cutters mounted on the 2" drive shaft.
This is one of the finest Northern Bays on the market.
Overall Layout
Sleeps five in three air conditioned cabins. Cherry trim throughtout, including cherry slatted walls against hull in forward and single staterooms, contrasting nicely with white walls. Countertops in head and galley are white Corian. All hatches and ports are stainless, opening and screened. Forward hatch is Bomar and four smaller hatches are Hood. Windshield is fixed and house side windows (sliding and screened) are powdered finished aluminum, manufactured by Bomon. All interior lighting is by Cantalupi (reading,recessed and courtesy). Recessed lights are trimmed in cherry. Ceilings are white with gridded cherry slat trim and all floors are teak and holly. All drawers and doors are cherry and custom and secured with Schwepper latches. All berth and dinette sette fabric is a navy blue brushed fabric with burgundy and tan flecks. Helm and mate benches are buff Ultraleather. Forward stateroom sleeps two with center line queen berth with a custom mattress. Storage underneath the berth is accessed by hydraulic lifts. Hanging locker to port, drawers to starboard, top shelf area for both lockers and drawer units, two fans, two ports and one hatch. Next aft to port is a single stateroom with book rack, two reading lights two ports one hatch and storage under berth. Opposite the single stateroom to starboard is an enclosed head area with separate shower featuring a teak seat and sealed locker for stroage. Head and sink area has one port and one hatch providing good ventilation throughout. Lavac head is plumbed to holding tank or overboard discharge. Large polished stainless sink is set in full-size Corian countertop with mirrored wall.
The main salon contains the helm area, galley and dinettes/settee. Helm is to starboard with Edson stainless wheel and custom 1-2 person bench. Mate's bench seat is directly opposite with matching 1-2 person bench facing inclined navigation table custom made to fit Chart-Kit.
The galley is to port equipped with Dometic cherry paneled fridge (propane and AC), Force 10 three burner stove with oven and broiler with pots storage drawer underneath, deep brushed stainless sink, open Corian counter top, undersink trash area and four drawer storage.
Engine area has two hatches to access 500hp Yanmar diesel, bilge pumps, shutoffs, hot water tank and batteries.
Cockpit is completely soled in non-skid and the cockpit has two large deep lockers for storage and to access water tanks. The cockpit area is surrounded by eight teak trimmed lazarettes. The top of the transom is finished off with a single teak board the full width of the cockpit to which St Croix davits are affixed and thru-bolted.
